Amazon.com announced their new lineup of Kindle devices. Here are a few comments on these devices.
Kindle Fire vs Apple iPad
This Kindle Fire is a great entry into the tablet computer market, but this version is not an iPad killer. iPad is safe for now.
Kindle Fire is an advanced Kindle, but it is not a true tablet computer yet. This is a great entry point for Amazon.com however and I see them growing rapidly in this space.
Kindle Fire will be a success since it is a brand name, it is only $200 and it is full of promise.
Kindle Reading Devices
Amazon.com started this eReader space a few years ago with the first Kindle. They have had several versions in the marketplace. Their main competitor, the Barnes and Noble Nook has been coming on strong. The Nook took the leadership position away from the Kindle with the new touch screen and smaller footprint.
This new Kindle puts Amazon.com back into direct competition with a very similar device.
In addition to the device, now Amazon.com let’s customers read free library books the same as Barnes and Noble has done. It’s a race to keep up with each other.
This shows that customers should not buy based on the device. Instead they should by based on the company that stands behind the device. Customers should choose either Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.
The devices will continue to wow and continue to keep up with each others innovations.
