Is the Amazon.com Kindle outselling the Apple iPad? We don’t know for sure yet, but signs are strong right now.

We should follow this question going forward.

The reasons include Amazon.com Kindle just came out, it costs less than half an Apple iPad and it attracts and entirely new and different segment of the marketplace.

The Apple iPad is still selling well, but the Amazon.com Kindle is selling much more rapidly, at least in this early stage right after it hit the marketplace.

The Amazon.com Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook are very popular with what they do and how much they cost. They don’t do everything an iPad does, but they do what many people really want, plus they cost significantly less.

We’ll have to wait a while to hear about actual numbers sold and we’ll have to wait several months till the excitement is over, but at least we see a strong competitor to the Apple emerging with Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
