Analyst Thoughts on New MICROSOFT Logo | Jeff Kagan Tech Analyst
The new Microsoft logo is a new look and feel for the company. This is part of the Microsoft re-mix. They actually needed to do this ten years ago, but it is much better late than never.
This is a very important part of the Microsoft re-make, but it is only one part of the mix. They need to redefine who and what they are going forward. If they can do that this could be a new beginning for the company.
Windows 8 is coming and will likely be a turning point for the company from the software side. And this software works with other software and devices within Microsoft. So this could be the launch of a new and exciting future for the company.
If they can pull it off. This new logo is very important, but is only one part of the mix.
Remember, Microsoft is like two different companies.
One is a software company. They have a very strong business with Windows operating systems and all the software like Word and Office. This remains very strong and growing.
The other is the new segments like wireless and that is just not as successful over the last decade.
This new logo represents new thinking and that new thinking will help them succeed in these new areas.
This next generation of software has the potential for Microsoft to hit it out of the park if they can get their act together.
Microsoft is still trying to succeed with wireless phones and other areas as well. Will this new logo help them in those areas?
Yes I think this new logo will help them, but it is not the only part of the larger story they need to get right.
