We have known and used and invested in an watched AOL for a couple of decades. They started high, then low over the last several years, but they have been trying to reinvent themselves.

Could they be on the verge of reinvention and turning themselves around? Maybe.

Tim Armstrong CEO has made some very big and very bold acquisitions recently. He sees AOL succeeding once again, but this time it will be a very different company.

AOL’s new ad strategy is now being led by Janet Balis. Turning AOL into a successful advertising business is a giant step, but it has been done before. Just look at Google as one big example.

AOL is seeing traditional revenue streams shrink while advertising revenue streams seem to be growing during the last two quarters.

We have seen AOL try several times over several years and have just not made it happen yet.

Will this time be the charm for AOL? Perhaps. At least they are working hard in the right direction.

We’ll keep our eyes on the company.
