Apple would deny this of course, but it looks like they are testing a new model of the successful iPad with a smaller screen to compete with Amazon.com, B&N.com and even Samsung.
Sounds quite a bit like the new and successful competitors, Amazon.com Kindle and Barnes & Noble.com Nook, doesn’t it?
There is nothing wrong with this, but it is so unlike Apple.
Both Amazon.com and B&N.com found another niche that Apple wasn’t paying attention to.
Apple never really pays that much attention to competitors or even to consumers. Apple usually drives. They lead.
So this Apple move is curious to say the least.
No I don’t think the Apple iPad is taking a hit. Not yet anyway. But I do think they are worried other companies may own a new corner of the market that Apple is ignoring.
Will this new size screen be popular among Apple customers? Sure, some of them, and that is the point. Users always had to adjust their desires to what Apple offered.
This is the first time Apple is making changes in its design to battle competitors. Why? Don’t yet know. But this is very interesting isn’t it?
