Demand for the new Apple iPhone 4S seems strong.
In fact demand seems to be outpacing Apple’s ability to serve customers.
AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel are taking weeks to get iPhones to customers. Everything seems to be on back order.
This is either a great story of incredible demand or there is a problem at Apple.
It’s been more than a month since the new Apple iPhone 4S hit the market and the demand is still outpacing their ability to meet it.
Glenn Lurie, AT&T’s President of emerging devices was quoted by the Wall Street Journal saying “we have had just record-breaking sales on it.”
Brenda Raney, spokesperson for Verizon Wireless said the carrier is working with Apple to increase its inventory of iPhone 4S. She says popularity is growing and they don’t want to keep customers waiting.
AT&T and Verizon both reported slowdowns in iPhone activations in the most recent quarter.
Sprint was not available for comment on this story.
It is interesting that C Spire shows no iPhone 4S delays. That is good news for them and their customers.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said a few weeks ago that he expects to set a record for iPhone sales in the current quarter. The new question that is brewing; is this going to be a problem with all the delays?
It seems everyone has the same high expectations, but some are having a bit of a problem.
Too bad Apple cannot send C Spire iPhones to AT&T, Verizon and Sprint to help with shortages. Each individual phone is designed and programmed to run on one network so that won’t work.
It will be interesting to see whether this is a good thing or a bad thing for Apple and how it affects their current quarter which is the biggest quarter of the year.
