Apple has ridden the success wave over the last decade, but that has been on the consumer side. Apple is now getting a real toehold in the business market and that means we can expect more substantial change both from Apple and from the entire business side of the equation.
Business has always been hesitant to jump onto the Apple bandwagon for several reasons including security and business applications. Apple devices were never business designed.
However over the last several years Apple saw the business market as a large opportunity and now we see it has been making headway in that sector.
Apple has improved security and has an inordinate number of Apps for the business marketplace and increasingly is better equipped for the business market.
Going forward I think we can expect to see Apple growing in importance in the business market.
This is about the computers and phones.
This is driven from the bottom up. This is a generational shift. Users are demanding to use the Mac and iPhone and iPad the way they do at home. As RIM Blackberry collapses on the business side, Apple iPhone and Google Android are growing.
We better get ready. This generational shift will impact every company, every product in every corner of the IT industry.
