Poems, Lyrics and even a Tango form this Inspiring Collection

Houston, TX, August 18, 2009 — “All but a Small Painting” (published by iUniverse) by author J. Olin Fischer is his first compilation of 46 word paintings stemming from his experiences of living in the Andes many years in addition to traveling to 40 countries.

Romance, nature, spirituality, social issues and even comedy are painted by Fischer, influenced by Asian literature, world religions and mysticism. As Plutarch stated: “Poetry is a speaking picture. Painting a silent (mute) poetry.”

With a unique voice, Fischer shares his inspirations with readers as they can feel resonating heartfelt, succinct, somewhat Eastern philosophies:

“Owls and giraffes patiently listened as tree stumps moaned. They stared at early stars while clouds pleaded with missing moonlight. Instincts watched each other as man walked by talking of helicopters.”

– Owls and Giraffes

It was only natural for Fischer – at 10,000 feet by a mountain lake surrounded by seven waterfalls, tropical rain forest and orchids – that words began to flow in what became the poetic basis for “All but a Small Painting.” With a unique voice, Fischer shares his inspirations with readers as they enjoy his heartfelt, laconic poetry.

About the Author

Born on the 4th of July in Washington, DC, J. Olin Fischer grew up a Mississippi River boy from Missouri. Graduating from SE Missouri University, he taught ESL in Colombia and lived in the Andes for 5 years. At 10,000 feet by a mountain lake with 7 waterfalls, tropical rain forest, orchids, word paintings came from the inspiration. After experiencing over 40 countries, many paintings were born from them. J. Olin resides now in Houston, Texas. This almost 40-year compilation is “all but a small painting: for you to enjoy.”
