Probiotic study highlights bowel discomfort benefits
New York City, N.Y, August 16, 2011 — A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of North Carolina has confirmed that probiotics can reduce bloating in people suffering from bowel disorders. The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, examined 60 test participants with functional bowel disorders, average age of 37, divided into two groups for the eight week study. The first group received a probiotic combination, measured at 200 billion units, whilst the second group received a placebo.
At the end of the study, the participants rated the amount of relief they were experiencing throughout this period and the results were that the probiotic group had 15% less bloating than the placebo group.
Bowel disorders and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) are believed to affect between 15 and 30 million Americans alone. The condition, which eflicts women more than men, is long term and is characterised by discomfort, constipation and diarrhea. At present Irritable Bowel Syndrome is untreatable. This study shows that advanced high potency probiotics, such as Biotivia Florativia, can be valuable aids in reducing the symptoms and boosting the body’s immunity.
A spokesperson for Biotivia, which produces Florativia, said: “Its encouraging to see positive results from this study as we believe that creating a stable intestinal flora environment leads to a healthier and happier lifestyle. This is why we developed our Florativia with added prebiotics to provide the proper environment to allow the 16 billion friendly bacteria to thrive.”
Florativia is what scientists call a synbiotic, a complex of both probiotics and prebiotics in one supplement that work together to improve the “friendly flora” of the human intestine. It has been developed so that the prebiotics and probiotics are kept separate until the time of taking using a unique ‘twist and shake’ system.
Research has shown a number of healthy advantages of probiotics and prebiotics, including for those suffering with irritable bowel syndrome, poor digestive system, people taking antibiotics and those with urinary tract problems.
The Biotivia spokesperson continued: “As the threat of digestive problems, including irritable bowel syndrome, continues to grow, we are promoting having a healthy gut by offering a free box of Florativia with any purchase made. To qualify for this offer, which runs till September 30th 2011, just use the coupon code “FREEFLORA” at the check out.”

Bioforte was also shown to more than double brain blood flow in a study done at the University of Northumbria in the UK.
Biotivia’s resveratrol products, Transmax and Bioforte, have been independently assessed by Consumer Labs, the leading American quality watchdog, and were deemed both ‘most potent’ and ‘best value’.
