Ouch. It has been too many years since we have seen any good news from this Alcatel-Lucent.

I think we have actually all forgotten what a good year is actually like for the company.

Unfortunately this long bad streak continues.

Ongoing efforts like job cuts and supply chain keep dissappointing.

The acquisition of Lucent has proved to be a bad move for the company. They got the patents, the people and the processes, but they also got a company who was rapidly going down the other side of the growth wave.

Yes this is still an important company since it supplies gear to countless comapnies worldwide

However they just cannot seem to grow. Without growth the fuse is lit. The fuse has been burning for years. One day it will simply explode.

They are not the only equipment company who is struggling. There are other brand name firms as well who have either struggled or have failed.

After the merger with Lucent, who was failing themselves at the time, things just continue to get worse.

Is Alcatel Lucent a good company? Yes.

Can they be successful and important going forward? Yes.

However the company has not changed as quickly as the marketplace has changed and they have fallen way behind the Wave of change.

The company must catch the next opportunity wave. It’s that simple.
