This is very bad news for Nokia, a company who was number one in the handset business over the last decade until Apple and Google changed the industry.
It’s not like Nokia is ignoring the problem. They are working hard to turn things around. It just has not happened.
The problem has to do with technology and brand. Nokia has built their brand name on ordinary wireless phones. However today’s marketplace has moved beyond ordinary wireless phones. In fact it has moved beyond ordinary smartphones.
Today the marketplace continues to move toward these super smartphones.
Unfortunately Nokia technology does not cut it in the general marketplace competing with companies like Samsung and Google with Android and the Apple iPhone.
What is the future for Nokia? That is the big question we are asking right now.
Perhaps they will be acquired? They have a good company, it’s just their technology can’t keep up with competitors.
One of the key problems is the Nokia brand just says ordinary wireless phone, not smart phone.
If they can’t get past that they don’t stand a chance.
The Nokia problem is, if a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?
