In 2014, Basic/Outfitters founder Michael Dweck married and moved into a cozy Manhattan apartment with his new wife…and quickly realized whose clothing collection would take precedence in their precious shared space. His eclectic and often mismatched sock and underwear assortment would have to go and be replaced by a fresh, new, and pared-down collection of basics. Faced with the choice of expensive designer items or cheap, generic, and poorly-made underthings, Michael recognized the overwhelming need for superior and affordable men’s essentials.
