Steve is a native Nevadan. Other than being in Sacramento for three years attending Law School at University of Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law, Steve has lived his entire life in Nevada. He has lived in Carson City, Las Vegas, Goldfield and Lovelock. The rural practice of law for Steve is a opportunity to help out fellow Nevadans in their time of need. An adopted only child, Steve was born in Reno in 1967. Raised in Carson City, he graduated high school there in 1985 after a school career that included a state championship in speech and debate. From there, his education continued at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) where he earned his degree in history. Active in school at UNLV, Steve was sports editor for the school newspaper, a student senator, president of the student senate and student body president. At McGeorge, Steve was awarded certificates for oral argument and worked for the Sacramento County District Attorneys Office prosecuting traffic offenses. Immediately returning to Nevada following law school, employment was found in a variety of diverse areas. Initially, Steve was a contract Deputy District Attorney in Lincoln County and later served as contract City Attorney for Caliente, Nevada. He also prosecuted misdemeanors in a contract position for the City of Henderson, Nevada. During these times he maintained a private practice in family law. In 1995, Steve took office as District Attorney for Esmeralda County. Following that, he was a Deputy District Attorney for Pershing County, Nevada, leaving that position to go into private practice in 1999. In private practice, Steve has had numerous successful jury verdicts in a variety of criminal defense matters. Success has also been had in numerous bench trials in civil and criminal cases. Steve is also trained in negotiation strategies and resolves hundreds of cases without going to court. The sum total of this experience is the ability to obtain the best trial or negotiated result possible under the particular facts and circumstances of your case. Steve is married with five children. When not with his wife or children, Steve can likely be found racing cars himself, watching car racing, hiking or coaching his kids.
