February 11, 2011, Washington DC: The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) congratulates Dr. Makarand (Mak) Jawadekar on being conferred the Doctor of Science (D.Sc), Honoris Causa by the Dr. D. Y. Patil University, Mumbai, India. Dr. Jawadekar was awarded the doctorate in recognition of his valuable service to the pharmaceutical industry for over three decades. Dr. Jawadekar is an AUSIB Board Member and advises on matters pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry. He holds a Ph.D (Pharmaceutics) from the University of Minnesota. He was the former Director, Portfolio Management & Analytics, Pfizer, Inc. at Groton-New London, CT. Accepting his degree, Dr. Jawadekar talked about the need for further improving higher education opportunities and infrastructure in India. He urged students to take risks, work smart and always give back to their country.
