The shop was founded at the convergence of innovative lingerie design, fashion, mysticism, and feminism. The shop’s founder, Carlie Quezada, had a hard time finding special and wearable undergarments that were made by skilled craftswomen at a fair wage, and weren’t manufactured in a wasteful or environmentally harmful manner. After living in Paris briefly, and traveling frequently to other major US cities, she discovered a whole wide world of small, independent designers who were making beautiful lingerie in more modern styles (not too lacy and girly) and using innovative methods (like utilizing recycled rather than new nylon, and small-run, made-to-order production, to thoughtfully using natural materials and skin safe dyes) to create exceptionally beautiful items for everyday luxury. After collecting these items directly from designers and other small retailers for years, Quezada began to dream of bringing these items to the women of the metro Detroit area. As a very amateur astrologer and student of Tarot, she also began to more fully appreciate and harness the awesome power of femininity and the need for women to support each other.
