FIDI Opens Summer Courses for 2012 Florence, September 2011 -Following last year's success with its Summer Courses, the Florence Institute of Design International is opening again it programs for next June. The Institute will be offering exclusive short courses on Architecture, Furniture Design, Graphic Design, and Digital Illustration. The summer courses are perfect for international students who have a strong and passionate interest in design and architecture, but can not stay for full year programs. The Institute's being situated in a stylish Baroque Palazzo in downtown Florence makes it even more attractive to those who have an inclination towards culture. It also gives the students a chance to incorporate Italy's rich culture into their design skills. Last year's program attracted students from all over the globe – from Latin America, to Europe, to Asia. The courses: Architecture The Architecture course teaches both traditional and modern analytical skills together with a general overview of Renaissance architectural history. Furniture Design The Furniture Design course is a mixture of design assignments and lectures on conceptual furniture design. Graphic Design The Graphic design course is a stirring introduction to its theory and its application with special focus on Italian graphic design. This short four weeks summer course is designed to give students an opportunity to improve their skills in graphic design and to expand their experience into visual arts. Digital Illustration (new for 2012) The course aims to stimulate students to develop their creative potential in this field, to learn different techniques and to increase their ability to work in various styles of illustration, both realistic and stylized.
