Atlanta, GA, December 23, 2011 — Is that how you would tell your children what happened? Would they understand what that means? Do you?

Strokes happen. Every year in the United States there are 750,000 strokes. Worldwide it is much higher. They happen to everyone at every age.

That means 750,000 have a stroke, but tens of millions of spouses, children, parents, friends and family suddenly have to know what it means and how to deal with it.

Stroke is a strange place for everyone. We just don’t know anything about it.

Strokes last a long time. Stroke survivors don’t recover in days or weeks or months. Recovery takes years. The extent of recovery can never be known until it happens.

However there is still plenty the stroke survivor can do, and should to, in order to have a more full recovery. There are ways you can help and hurt so it is important to understand.

In 2004 I had a stroke. After the initial period no one could tell by looking at me, but I could not think well. Not for a long time. It’s like driving on a racecourse with a few potholes here and there. You never know when you will hit a blank spot. It is a strange feeling.

I wrote a book called Life After Stroke: On The Road To Recovery, by Jeff Kagan.

It tells my story to teach you what to expect over the next few years. It shares my journey. I want to share what I have learned with you.

Whether you are a stroke survivor yourself, or family or friend you need to learn in order to help achieve the best recovery.

The difference between a good or poor recovery depends on quite a bit, but understanding is one of the keys.

Visit my web page for my book and read the first chapter or two for free. http://jeffkagan.com/Life_After_Stroke.htm

Then if you like it you can order a copy for yourself. This is my publisher’s web page for my book. http://www.fastpencil.com/publications/1341-Life-After-Stroke

You have so many questions. Let me help you find the answers.

The book is also available at Barnes and Noble.com, Amazon.com and many other online bookstores.
