German travel industry feels knock on effect of stock market crash.

Glasgow, United Kingdom, September 23, 2011 — Travel companies suffer as a result of yesterday’s crash in the stock market. Thomas cook, and Tui Travel saw shares fall back between 4% and 6.75%

The news came as a blow to both companies who had high expectations to meet targets for their year-end figures after a fairly positive late summer.

Reports warning of the dip came on Wednesday from a American Federal Reserve relating to the US economy.

The International Monetary Fund, alongside the World Bank bashed confidence even further as opinions flew sky high on how weak the global growth is.

Many industry experts have commented on the news, sharing their views that the world is in a “dangerous place” financially.

Budget Airline, EasyJet offer a range of cheap flights and cheap holidays to suit even the penny strapped passenger. They were one of the few companies to survive the 4.7% fall experienced in the FTSE 100 index. Easyjet, reported a healthy 9% increase in its value.

The German DAX illustrated a 5% drop, travel weekly reported. It had this to say in one of their reports;

“Europe’s biggest carrier is still set to make substantial profits this year, but the warning was unexpected. The German market had been booming – both business and leisure travel – and Lufthansa had planned to increase capacity accordingly. Not any more: a plan in March to raise capacity this year by 12% fell back in July to 6% and will now be cut again.”
