Kahnawake,qc, November 4, 2010 — When Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt torched the Philadelphia Eagles for seven catches and 225 yards – the yardage a record for an Eagles opponent in the 78-year history of the franchise – in a Week 7 37-19 win that sent Philly into last week’s bye, you just knew someone was going to pay for that Britt explosion.

And that guy is Ellis Hobbs, who has lost his job as the starting right cornerback. Veteran Dimitri Patterson was his replacement with the first team as the Eagles returned to practice following the week off. Patterson, 27, has never started an NFL game in 41 appearances with the Redskins, Chiefs and Eagles. He is mostly known for his special teams play.

“I’ll humbly accept any opportunity that’s afforded to me,” Patterson said. “I’m a competitor at the end of the day, and if you’re in professional sports, no one wants to be second,” Patterson said. “You’re not working out in the offseason to be second, you’re working out to be first. You just have to make sure you’re prepared when the opportunity comes.”

The Eagles host the Colts Sunday and Patterson could have to guard Pro Bowler Reggie Wayne – bet on the game with Bodog’s NFL odds.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick practiced with the first team Monday for the first time since his rib injury last month and said that he was 100 percent and that there was “no soreness at all” in the rib cartilage area when he threw. Vick will start against Indianapolis. However, WR DeSean Jackson, who suffered a concussion before the bye, will be a game-time decision.
