Kahnawake,qc, October 24, 2010 — The Indianapolis Colts are on a bye week currently but that hasn’t stopped potentially devastating injury news from hitting the team.

Pro Bowl tight end Dallas Clark has a hand/wrist injury that will sideline him indefinitely. The length of Clark’s absence is uncertain, as is the exact nature of his injury. He apparently was hurt in the fourth quarter of the Week 6 win over Washington.

“He’s being evaluated,” Colts coach Jim Caldwell said evasively earlier this week.

Clark reportedly plans to get a second and possibly even third opinion before the Colts fully determine exactly how long he will be out. Clark is the team’s third-leading receiver with 37 catches for 347 yards and creates major matchup problems for defense – he often draws double teams because he is such a focus for Peyton Manning, but that opens the field for other receivers.

Meanwhile, starting running back Joseph Addai is going to get a second opinion on a nerve injury to his shoulder. Addai left last Sunday’s game after a hard hit to his shoulder during the fourth quarter of the Colts’ victory after he had rushed for a season high of 128 yards and one touchdown. Addai has injured both of his shoulders in the last two games and has admitted that he may not regain strength in the left shoulder for four or five weeks.

The Colts face a big game out of the bye with co-AFC South leader Houston, a team that beat Indy in Week 1. Backup running back Donald Brown’s hamstring injury is expected to be healed by then so he and Mike Hart will likely have to pick up Addai’s slack.
