The Indianapolis Colts are in a shocking three-game slide that has Peyton Manning and Co. currently on the outside looking in for the playoffs. This team was the preseason Super Bowl betting favorite on Bodog’s NFL odds.
A big reason for Indy’s struggles has been a rash of injuries, and many of those battered players won’t be ready to return for Thursday night’s game against Tennessee. Colts owner Jim Irsay said that receiver Austin Collie and running backs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart, among others, would miss Thursday’s game.
Collie is still dealing with post-concussion symptoms. He’s been limited in practice lately but isn’t ready to return to the field. Thus Blair White remains the No. 3 receiver. Indy. Addai will miss his seventh consecutive game due to nerve damage in his shoulder. Hart finally got back from an injured ankle in last week’s loss to Dallas but hurt it again. Because of the shortage of running backs, Indy signed Dominic Rhodes this week. He played with the Colts from 2001-2006 and again in 2008 and was most recently was the leading rusher in the UFL with the Florida Tuskers. Donald Brown will start at running back on Thursday. Indianapolis has the NFL’s worst rushing attack heading into Week 14.
Meanwhile, Colts safety Bob Sanders hasn’t played since early in the season and still hasn’t been cleared to practice. Cornerback Jerraud Powers was placed on injured reserve this week. Powers had six screws and a plate implanted in his right forearm Tuesday during surgery to repair a broken bone suffered Sunday against Dallas. However, fellow cornerback Kelvin Hayden, who missed last week’s game with a neck injury, could return.
Indianapolis is a 3.5-point favorite over Tennessee on Bodog’s NFL odds.
