Breaston was questionable on last week’s injury report but played in the Arizona’s 24-23 victory over the Oakland Raiders, catching four passes for 41 yards and a TD. On the season, Breaston has 14 receptions for 183 yards (both team-highs) and a TD.
Arizona already is without No. 3 receiver Early Doucet because of a sports hernia injury, so rookie Stephen Williams likely will be the starter alongside Pro Bowler Larry Fitzgerald in Sunday’s game at San Diego – bet on Bodog’s NFL Odds. Williams has caught three passes for 37 yards this season. Max Komar, also an undrafted rookie, will be No. 3, and Andre Roberts, a third-round pick, will be No. 4. That would mean four of the team’s top five receivers likely to play this Sunday did not catch an NFL pass before this season. Yet the Cards say they have no plans to add a veteran receiver.
The Cards have a tough stretch upcoming as they face the defending Super Bowl champion Saints following the Chargers game. Arizona QB Derek Anderson has struggled so far, completing just 52 percent of his passes, and coach Ken Whisenhunt has said he must improve. However, Anderson has the No. 4 QB rating in the NFL in the fourth quarter of games this season. Anderson completed 12 of his 26 passes for 122 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in Week 3.
