Nokia numbers look stronger for the first time in a long time.
I am as thrilled for Nokia as everyone else, but I still am taking this recovery talk one step at a time.
After all, the Palm Pre looked great for their recovery a few short years ago as well and today they are gone.
Nokia had brisk Lumia sales and that is good.
Nokia has what looks like a strong partnership with Microsoft on their Windows 8 mobile operating system and that is good.
The stars may seem like they may be starting to line up for Nokia, and they in fact just might be, but it is still way to early to make such a conclusion.
Nokia still has a long way to go.
Nokia and RIM were number one and two in handsets until six years ago when Apple iPhone and Google Android hit the streets and took the lead.
Today Nokia and RIM are struggling to put it mildly.
If they can start another growth wave then they could be a solid number three and four.
Let’s hope that is where they are headed. However they won’t be number one and two.
That would be good not only for Nokia, their customers, investors and employees, but would also be good for the industry offering two more operating systems besides Apple and Google.
Nokia is becoming more popular, but they are currently just a fraction of their former selves.
However with all that said let’s be happy for Nokia progress to date, as this could be the beginning of a recovery. Could be.
