Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/20/2014 -- The global solar Photovoltaic (PV) market increased in capacity by around 37 GW between 2012 and 2013, led by China with 13.4 GW alone. The boom in solar PV installations in the country in 2013, especially in H2, was the outcome of the expected decline in Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs) for large-scale projects from January 2014. Japan occupied second position in the global market with 6.4 GW. Compared to the remarkable growth in the PV sector in 2013, global CSP numbers were low at 946 MW. However, as the economics and market dynamics of these sectors are different, the low CSP figure cannot necessarily be compared with the high PV figure. Of the global CSP market in 2013, the US accounted for the majority share with 57%.
