A Three-Day Quilting Experience at MC5P

Cleveland, TN -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/07/2014 -- The Museum Center at 5ive Points announces their 2015 Stitches in Time Quilt Show. This year’s show will be a three-day quilting event, featuring both traditional and art quilts of every shape and size. In addition to quilts, the Museum will also be offering a variety of lectures and classes throughout the event.

“This year’s show is an exciting opportunity for the Museum Center,” says Curator of Collections, Lisa Chastain. “There will be no restrictions on theme or style and we’re inviting the public to show us their best works of art for judging.”

The show will open on Thursday, March 12 and run through Saturday, March 14 during the museum’s regular hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday’s closing ceremony will commence at 4 p.m. with the announcement of the winners. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, whose quilts are judged by a qualified quilting judge.

The Museum Center will also feature past Viewer’s Choice winners in the lobby. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite quilt: the Museum’s annual Viewer’s Choice. The Viewer’s Choice is being re-named for 2015 in memory of longtime quilter and museum volunteer, Ruth Hale.

Members of the Museum Center will be able to enter up to three quilts at no charge. Non-Museum members will be required to pay $10.00 per quilt and will be limited to one entry. More information about the quilt show will be available on the Museum’s website, including rules and applications beginning November 1. Stitches in Time is sponsored by First Tennessee Bank.

"First Tennessee is proud to continue our support of the Museum Center by sponsoring the Annual Quilt Show for the upcoming year," says Cleveland Community President, Mike Griffin of First Tennessee Bank. "The Museum Center at 5ive Points is an integral part of our community and does a fine job showcasing the history, culture, and arts of the Ocoee Region."
