Zafiro is a dark comedy by André Robert. An Indiegogo campaign with a funding goal of $21,000 has been launched to meet all expenses leading to the making of Zafiro.
Matawan, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/01/2014 -- Diego Solís returns to Zafiro, the rural fishing village where he was born, for his father's funeral. Though he was sure there was nothing left for him there, Diego soon realizes that his past is catching up with him and that he needs to confront some deep-seated fears in order to overcome it. It is in Zafiro, surrounded by childhood friends and unlikely allies, which Diego understands that life has a different plan for him than the one he imagined.
This dark comedy explores the relationship between a reckless father and a resentful son as they embark on a journey of transformation and forgiveness. Zafiro examines death, a delicate subject and a universal theme that everyone experiences in some shape or form.
As a director, Zafiro is an opportunity to use film to express the grief André Robert has experienced from his dad´s recent death. In addition, Zafiro explores the intricacies of life in rural Costa Rican fishing towns like Cuajiniquil, which serve as a microcosm for the country´s identity. Furthermore, the entire project will be shot in Costa Rica with a local crew, lending authenticity to the story being told.
The script is done. The motivation is abundant. The crew is ready. Since the past six months, the team has been searching for sponsors and benefactors that would be interested in supporting this project.
Reaching the funding goal of $21,000 will allow them to finish Zafiro.
