Kayal Orthopaedic Center

Another 1st for Dr. Robert A. Kayal: 1st Robotic-Arm Assisted TKAs at HRH

Kayal Orthopaedic Center teams up with Hudson Regional Hospital

Franklin Lakes, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/23/2019 -- FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ—The Kayal Orthopaedic Center family is proud to announce that Robert A. Kayal, MD, FAAOS, recently performed the first Mako robotic-arm assisted total knee replacement surgeries (also known as total knee replacement arthroscopies or TKAs) at Hudson Regional Hospital.

This is just one of many firsts in Dr. Kayal's career, further reflecting his commitment to offering his patients the latest technologies, treatments and therapies to achieve the best possible outcomes. The Kayal Orthopaedic Center provides head-to-toe orthopaedic services, including sports medicine in Paramus, NJ.

"I am excited about our new relationship with HRH because they share my philosophy to provide the latest and greatest technologies in the field of orthopaedics and the field of medicine in general," Dr. Kayal said.

Through this new affiliation, Dr. Kayal and his exceptional team of surgeons will be able to provide robotic-arm assisted total knee, total hip, partial knee and patellofemoral replacement surgeries along with other minimally invasive orthopaedic surgeries in HRH's state-of-the-art operating rooms. This relationship will allow more patients to access the Kayal Orthopaedic Center's superior services and brings these services even closer to home for existing patients of Kayal Orthopaedic Center who live in Secaucus, Lyndhurst, Clifton, Rutherford and nearby.

Before surgery, the Mako system allows Dr. Kayal to create a virtual three-dimensional replacement to optimize the position, size and alignment of the new hip or knee. This results in greater accuracy and precision. It means less invasive surgery, which means less bleeding, less stiffness, less swelling, less post-operative pain and quicker recoveries.

"It's hard to believe, but most orthopaedic surgeons in the U.S. are still using the traditional method for joint replacement surgery without the use of robotic arm assistance," Dr. Kayal said.
Patients in search of an exceptional orthopaedic practice with its finger on the pulse of innovation and patient-centered care should schedule their next appointment with Kayal Orthopaedic Center.
