Audit Readiness Highly Critical According to TraceGains Food Safety and Quality Assurance Survey

Westminster, CO -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/26/2014 -- The 2014 Annual TraceGains’ Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Professional Survey polled professionals from food manufacturing, processing, and distribution from across the country. The sole purpose was to understand the current state of the FSQA profession. Jenn Brusco, TraceGains’ Marketing Specialists noted, “The analysis revealed key topics, which ensure food quality and safety and top priorities for FSQA professionals. It also included the top food safety and quality assurance challenges.”

According to the survey results, audit readiness is deemed critical or very important. Three quarters (75%) of respondents indicated access to supplier documentation and compliance of incoming ingredients to specifications is either critical or very important to rapidly and successfully pass audits.

Rapidly changing and voluminous new food safety regulation combined with the potentially high cost of noncompliance, makes audit preparation increasingly important. Audit readiness was ranked as high importance by FSQA professionals completing the survey.

The importance of a reliable supplier, compliance, and regulatory document management system becomes essential as food manufacturers increase their number of global and domestic suppliers. Eighty-seven percent of survey respondents identified that a document management system is a critical requirement to create one version of data truth both internally and externally.
