Berrien Springs, MI -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/08/2014 -- Dr. Todd Christy, owner of Berrien Dental in Berrien Springs, cut the ribbon to celebrate the official opening of their new dental office at 711 Comings Ave in the City of St. Joseph. Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce facilitated the ribbon cutting.
Dr. Todd Christy graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Microbiology. He then earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy, School of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Christy opened his dental practice, Berrien Dental, and has been practicing here for the past 18 years.
His practice grew thanks to a great team and supportive patients that provided referrals through their friends and families. In March of 2002 he moved the practice to the current M-139 location north of Red Bud Trail in Berrien Springs. In July of that year, he took over the care of the patients of Dr. Gordon Byrd of St. Joseph.
Dr. Eric Balsis joined the practice in April 2010. Their growth continued with new patient referrals as well as taking over Dr. Ronald Carr’s patients from Buchanan when he retired in November of 2012.
Dr. Brian Smith, whose practice is in St. Joseph, chose Drs. Christy and Balsis to take over his practice as he anticipated retirement in September of this year. Dr. Smith will assist in the coming months through the transition.
About The Berrien Springs Office
The Berrien Springs office will remain open with their current hours and staff. The St. Joseph location will be open Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00-1:00 p.m. The entire team from Dr. Smith’s practice will be staying on, during and after the transition.
Dr. Christy stated, “We’re really excited to have a second location and we’re equally happy for Dr. Smith and his well-deserved retirement.”
