Blessings of Hope Successfully Partners with Sertoma Club of Lancaster to Sponsor World's Largest Chicken BBQ

Leola, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/17/2019 -- Blessings of Hope, a food distribution warehouse for food banks focused on providing for families in need throughout the Lancaster County community, is proud to announce its success in partnering with the Sertoma Club of Lancaster for the first time to host the 67th Annual Lancaster Sertoma Chicken BBQ.

Certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Chicken Barbecue, this tasty event has been held on the third Saturday in May every year since 1953. On May 18, 2019, Blessings of Hope joined together with the Sertoma Club of Lancaster to host another successful year of chicken at Long's Park in Lancaster, Pa.

Blessings of Hope brought 40 volunteers to pack and serve the 19,000 meals that were made that day and provided some of the food included in those meals. With the help from other volunteer groups, there were over 400 people working together to ensure that the event ran smoothly. Proceeds from the event were used to benefit the upkeep and improvement of Long's Park, playgrounds for blind and handicapped children, Kids' Kamp, Speech & Hearing Projects, Naturalization Day Receptions, the Long's Park Petting Zoo, and more.

"Here at Blessings of Hope, we're dedicated to helping out and getting involved in the community," said David Lapp, CEO of Blessings of Hope. "This was our first year partnering with Lancaster Sertoma for this fantastic event, and we couldn't be happier with the result. We keep hearing that we're one of Lancaster's best kept secrets, so being able to get the word out about who we are and what we do is incredibly valuable."
