"Confronting Current Challenges in Multiple Sclerosis Treatment" Receives Educational Excellence Award

Hackensack, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/20/2014 -- The Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC), The France Foundation, and the Nurse Practitioner Alternatives (NPA) are pleased to announce that “Confronting Current Challenges in Multiple Sclerosis Treatment: A Unique Individualized Learning Plan,” has been selected as the winner for the 2015 Outstanding CE Enduring Material by the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions.

The Alliance Award recognizes that this CE activity for neurologists/physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses, case managers, physician assistants, social workers, and others involved in the care of patients with MS has contributed to a positive change in their practice.

The enduring CE activity, “Confronting Current Challenges in Multiple Sclerosis Treatment: A Unique Individualized Learning Plan,” was designed based on the principle that there are varying levels of knowledge and confidence among clinicians. This activity was developed to first identify the participant’s knowledge and confidence in varying areas of MS, and then to provide the participant with an individualized learning plan that meets their specific needs. This approach, which can easily be replicated across countless topics and therapeutic areas, allows the participant to focus on areas where they have demonstrated the greatest need.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Alliance for this important CE activity for MS healthcare professionals. With the continuing advances in diagnosis and management of MS, this customized activity helps bridge the participant’s knowledge and performance gaps,” said Dr. Theodore Bruno, Chief Medical Officer, The France Foundation.

The first step in the “Confronting Current Challenges in Multiple Sclerosis Treatment: A Unique Individualized Learning Plan,” activity is a self-assessment survey that evaluates the clinician’s current knowledge and confidence in managing patients with MS. Based on these results a report is generated that focuses on areas for the participant MS education and to create a tailored learning plan with recommended activities that include webinars and communication videos. The participant then completes the recommended educational activities to earn CME/CNE credit.

The topics and therapeutic areas that are covered in the webinars and videos include: Changing View of the Immunopathology of MS; Current and Emerging Therapies for MS; Communication with Patients about Progress on Treatment; and Collaborative Care of the MS Patient.
