The birth rate continues to decline in Italy. The precariousness state of the employment market and constant increase in the unemployment rate, especially among young people, represent the main reasons why young people cannot afford the cost of starting a family. Furthermore, even those people less affected by the crisis are choosing to limit the number of children in order to guarantee a more comfortable standard of living. Consequently, the baby food industry is suffering some decline.
