Recently Released Market Study: Chocolate Confectionery in Ecuador
Chocolate confectionery sales in 2012 were constrained by weather conditions in Ecuador. Heavy rains shrank the national supply of cocoa, as transport across flooded roads and areas affected by landslides became an issue. Heavy rains particularly affected tropical areas of the country, areas which are also producers of cocoa, resulting in lower cocoa yields that year. The 2013 rainy season was less intense than in 2012, allowing the domestic industry to largely recover.
