"Cigarettes in Russia" Published
Russian cigarettes started to witness a slowdown in growth prior to the anti-smoking law. Over the review period the category recorded a 0-2% decline in volume terms every year. This can be attributed to higher taxation, increased health awareness and changing attitudes towards smoking. Nonetheless, smoking prevalence remained high in Russia at 42% of the total adult population in 2012.
