The harvest season for olive oil witnessed a significant decrease during 2013. Despite this decline, unit prices remained stagnant. More importantly, the other categories in oils and fats, namely butter, margarine and vegetable oils, witnessed new launches and demand growth as many consumers switched to vegetable oil, which is cheaper than olive oil, and the use of butter and margarine in cooking became more popular.
