This antibiotic medication is used to fight against a large number of bacterial infections including skin infections, cystitis, UTIs and other infections involving soft tissues.
It also minimises the risks of a serious infection developing after chemotherapy.
Precautions required :
1) Overdose or skipped dose of this medicine can be harmful. Contact the vet if the case happens.
2) Inform vet about your pet's pregnancy or seizures or any problem related to central nervous system.
3) Antacids and other medication which contain zinc, calcium, aluminum, magnesium, and iron should not be given less than 2 hours after Zeniquin.
4) In case of side effects resulting in respiratory problems, wheezing, swollen face (lips, tongue, eyes, nose, etc.), and hives, vet should be contacted immediately.
Dosage should be as directed by vet.
Zeniquin is only available through prescription and should be given as instructed by your veterinarian.
Dosage and administration: It is an oral medication, with a recommended dosage of 1.25mg per pound daily. If necessary, the dosage can also be brought up to 2.5mg per pound. For the use of skin infections, Zeniquin may be administered about 3 days after symptoms have disappeared, as long as it does not exceed more than 30 days of treatment. Zeniquin should be given for a minimum of 10 days for UTIs, and if symptoms do not improve by day 5, a follow-up evaluation should be performed by a vet.
