Dentist Encino Dr Craig Glick DDS Welcomes a Scientific Review Encouraging the Use of Fluoride Toothpaste

Dr Criag Glick DDS Dentist Encino said, “Regular use of fluoride toothpaste is a vital part of effectively combating tooth decay and to promoting good oral hygiene.”

Encino, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/20/2014 -- Encino Dentist Dr Craig Glick is the respected owner of the Langley Dental Practice in Encino, California. In addition, he is the highly respected Clinical Lead Dentist for the Cosmetic Surgery Clinical Assessment and treatment Services for Encino Dentistry . He was speaking recently about a new scientific review in the Cochrane Library, USA.

The article, which was published by the Science Daily, can be read here. He went on to tell us about the review and explain its significance. Encino Dentist Dr Craig Glick , a dentist for over 25 years, is always keen to keep abreast of the latest scientific studies within dental medicine. He believes it is essential for dental professionals to be up to date with the latest research and development in order to provide the best quality dental care to patients.

Encino Dentist Dr Craig Glick , a respected dentist, went on to say, “It is already widely known that brushing teeth with fluoride toothpaste helps combat the build-up of plaque, fight tooth decay, and maintain good oral health. This new review takes a closer look at toothpaste which contains a substance called triclosan, which is an antibacterial agent, and a copolymer which stops the triclosan from being washed out of the mouth by saliva. The review indicates that toothpaste which contains these two ingredients will significantly reduce plaque, fight gingivitis and reduce the bleeding of diseased gums, compared to fluoride toothpaste without these ingredients.”

The article includes an interview with Mr Philip Riley, a leading researcher from Manchester University who co-authored the study. Tariq Drabu who is a dentist and teacher to postgraduate students of dental medicine at the a University of Central Lancashire in Preston, is dedicated to education, and the continued development and excellence of the British dental profession. He said, “Mr Riley’s research indicates that adding triclosan and copolymer to fluoride toothpaste will make it significantly more effective in combatting plaque, inflammation, bleeding gums and tooth decay. Although I understand that further research and testing will be required to establish any potential clinical effects, I find the results of this review particularly interesting and promising.”

Encino Dentist Dr Craig Glick , a busy family dentist, took time out to speak to us at length. He continued by saying, “The review indicates excellent results, showing a 22% reduction in plaque and gingivitis amongst test subjects. I believe that more collaboration between toothpaste manufacturers and research scientists should be done in this area. And independent reviews will also address any misgivings some people may have about studies which have been supported by pharmaceutical companies.”

Encino Dentist Dr Craig Glick , dentist and leading specialist, concluded by saying, “There seems to be little doubt that the findings of this review are accurate. The combination of triclosan and copolymer significantly improves the performance of fluoride toothpaste in its ability to combat tooth decay, remove plaque and prevent gum disease. As dental professionals, we should be doing everything possible to learn more and encourage further independent, and government funded research, so we can continue to develop and improve dental medicine.”
