Kansas City, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/08/2015 -- On August 16th 2015 at the Kauffman Stadium at a baseball game between the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Angels Dr. Busch was awarded the Community Service Buck O'Neil Award from the KC Royals. Dr. Busch sat in the Honorary Buck O'Neil Red Stadium Chair with his family behind home plate in honor of his work in the Royal's Community.
The TeamSmile event that prompted this honor was held on July 17 with the Kansas City Royals baseball team at Kauffman Stadium. Under-served children were provided with free dental care with 232 kids being treated. This amounted to $106,400 of dental and preventive care.
Dr. Busch of NKC Dental started the TeamSmile program 10 years ago with Kansas City Chiefs Pro-Bowl punter Dustin Colquitt and Jason Krause of Henry Schein Dental to get our nation's children the smiles that they deserve. They are working with under-served children of Kansas City, treating them to eight years of free dental treatment and dental fitness education with the help of local dentists and volunteers.
TeamSmile is based out of Kansas City, but travels to bring their program to professional sports teams throughout the nation. "Our work is only possible through donations and our volunteers, people willing to give of their time and talents.
