The completed round of capital upgrades has included the revamping of their distillation column’s reboiler process, as well as an increased flow through the facilities Mechanical Vapor Recompression Evaporator.

At the plant, the professionals convert liquids into renewable fuels, recovering waste water and creating renewable energy. The upgrades were completed for the convenience of clients and the operators of the plant. Finalized upgrades have seen an increase in the process uptime and throughput for liquid and pharmaceutical waste disposal.

“We basically converted the reboiler from a mixed thermosiphon to a forced circulation setup,” says Brian Potter, VP of Operations. “This will greatly reduce scaling and allow the operators to run the still longer between cleanings.”

Their process includes full delivery from a warehouse or storage facility to their Materials Recovery Facility in a manner that protects the environment. When liquids are separated, they are sent to the Distilled Spirits Plant, where ethanol is stripped and turned into 190 proof ethanol. Once separated, distillation still bottoms are recycled with a Mechanical Vapor Recompression Evaporator. The evaporator was upgraded with a new stainless steel blower, with a 200 horsepower motor included in the upgrade.

“The evaporator has really been cranking out water,” says Larry Moore. “This blower is more robust and has greater throughput.”
