Elmwood Park Zoo Announces Party for the Planet Event This April

 

Norristown, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/15/2014 -- In honor of Earth Day, which is celebrated annually on April 22, many organizations and venues focus their efforts on “going green” to help benefit the environment. To show their support of a healthy planet for humans and animals alike, Elmwood Park Zoo is proud to announce their Party for the Planet event this April. The event, presented by PECO, is being held on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 11 am. When families and guests purchase a general admission ticket for the zoo, they will be able to attend the Party for the Planet without additional charges.

As a way to spread awareness for means to maintain a healthy environment, Elmwood Park Zoo has put together this event complete with an Earth Expo to showcase a variety of different services and products. Throughout the expo, visitors will be treated to a number of vendors, including the Montgomery County Health Department, the AAZK Chapter of the Elmwood Park Zoo, PECO, and more. Additionally, Bubby the Bison, the Zoo’s mascot will be in attendance to raise awareness about the newly developed Conservation Club workshop. The workshops take place one Sunday every month and feature crafts and activities that tie together with conservation. In the spirit of Earth Day, Bubby will be making music through use of recycled materials to the energy of the crowd.

Families are bound to enjoy themselves on Saturday, April 26 when attending the Party for the Planet. They will be educated on various environmentally friendly products while gazing at the extensive collection of animals. From reptiles to birds, fish and mammals, visitors can view jaguars, golden lion tamarins, alligators, bald eagles, and many more. Located in Norristown, PA, the Elmwood Park Zoo opened its doors in 1924.
