New Market Report: Consumer Electronics in Japan
Consumer electronics did not receive the benefits of the positive economic climate in 2012. This was mainly because of the poor performance of digital TVs, the largest revenue source in consumer electronics in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, consumers returned to making long-term investments in other types of durable goods, such as cars and housing. Sales of consumer electronics suffered from weak demand with the end of the 2010 eco-point system initiative and 2011 digital terrestrial switchover.
