As in the rest of the review period, noodles remained very underdeveloped in the Portuguese packaged food market in 2013 and any volume consumption movement is immediately highly reflected in the development of the category. As Portuguese consumers became less confident in the Portuguese government and the overall economy, the trend towards buying nonessential products such as noodles waned, explaining the 5% volume decline registered in 2013.
