Recent Study: Alcoholic Drinks in Egypt
Growth rates declined in many categories in 2013 relative to 2012. The recovery process, which began in 2012, was yet again disrupted by political unrest following the 30 June uprising, which saw President Muhammad Morsi ousted from power. The categories affected were mainly imported spirits brands. The decline was largely driven by the drop in tourism in the country and the curfews imposed by the army which curbed on-trade consumption.
