Deltona, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/25/2014 -- While young adult fiction is now more popular than ever before, most existing narratives conform to traditional societal and family dynamics that are rapidly changing. Her father is dead, she only sees her mother for a few weeks of the year yet is forced to still face the same adversity as her peers.

But Josie’s tenacity and maturity are her secret weapons; making for a gripping adventure in ‘Josie’s Life "From The Inside Out"’ and ‘The Sequel - Josie's Life "The Edge Of Darkness"’.

Synopses:

‘Josie’s Life "From The Inside Out”’ - Josie is a girl who always seems to find herself in the middle of some kind of situation, either self-generated or from outside sources. But she always seems to figure out how to resolve the problem, “from the inside out.” Josie has faced a kidnapping, her first true love and heartbreak, and then the odd disappearance of her mother. She is then put to the ultimate test when she succumbs to the agonizing heartache, one that only death can bring, and just when she seems to be handling her grief and loss, life throws her a giant curve ball, when she comes face to face with her presumed dead father from years past, sending her into a tailspin of despair and uncertainty.

‘The Sequel - Josie's Life "The Edge Of Darkness"’ - Josie’s Life the Sequel, is a love story, in which her life finally comes together in her early twenty’s when she takes matters into her own hands, at least so it would seem. Her fate a-waits as she heads into the unknown territory of a grown-up relationship of love, intimacy, confusion and bewilderment. Life’s final blow slaps her in the face when upon finally finding her father under unimaginable circumstances, her life is turned upside down, and her mental state slips into . . . “The Edge of Darkness.”

“So many young people these days don’t live with their parents, or live in a family dynamic that would traditionally be branded as unconventional,” explains Thoms. “Therefore, my two books are extremely pertinent to modem-day society and will resonate heavily with youngsters living in similar circumstances.”

Continuing, “Josie is a fighter and readers will find themselves championing for her victories, sharing the pain of her defeats and even possibly shedding a tear as a tumultuous life finally comes together into something very beautiful. Either way, the stories rejoice in and recognize the strength of all young people determined to find their own way in life.”

About Trish J. Thoms
"In my teen years I was a shy girl with little to no confidence, and being introverted most of my adolescences life held me back in many ways. I challenged myself constantly; I even enrolled in the Dale Carnegie Course, hoping it would help with my introverted personality. I spoke in front of a room full of strangers on some subject for two full minutes. Believe me when I say that was really tough for me to do, but I somehow managed to receive two recognition pens for my two minute speeches.

I can now honestly say I finally feel secure and confident in myself as a person and women, I still continue to stimulate my mind with different interest. As in the last several years, we have been learning Ballroom Dancing, which has brought much enjoyment to me, and to my husband as well. Lastly, is my new found interest, I’m trying my hand at writing Children’s Short Stories. Although writing is nothing new to me as it has always been a way to work out and understand my feelings, a way to formalize what I couldn’t seem to put into words. I have found at least for me, the written word is much easier to express than the spoken word, and that added benefit has served as my own self-therapy throughout the years."
