Houston, TX -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/11/2014 -- Little Soya gluten-free soy sauce is set to make history on July 24th as it is scheduled to be launched into space. Little Soya was selected by NASA and Lockheed Martin to be used by astronauts from across the world on the International Space Station. The Ariane 5, ATV-5, which is a European rocket, will carry the soy sauce packets into space on July 24th.
“About two years ago we received a phone call from NASA and Lockheed Martin stating they were looking for a solution to their soy sauce issues on the International Space Station. One of the astronauts had complained on his last debriefing that when he would open a soy sauce packet in space, it would spew all over. The wife of one of our astronauts had seen our little fish-shaped packets at a local H-E-B grocery store and thought they might be perfect for the ISS,” stated Gary Murphy, Founder & CEO of Little Soya. That is how the story of Little Soya going to space started.
The Little Soya legacy began in Las Vegas several years ago and has quickly grown into something much larger, after chefs from around the country experienced the little fish packets containing Little Soya’s gluten free soy sauce. What began as convenient soy sauce packets shaped as little fish has now grown into larger half gallon and five gallon offerings. Little Soya can be found at some of the most prestigious hotspots in Las Vegas such as Caesar’s, MGM Grand, Mirage, Palms, Marquee, TAO Group, and Stations Casinos, as well as supermarkets nationwide.
Founder & CEO, Gary Murphy was virtually speechless when he received the first call from NASA & Lockheed and Martin inquiring about Little Soya. "It is quite an honor and privilege to know that our soy sauce packets beat out all leading brands, in the world, to be used on the International Space Station.” Other notable fans of the fish shaped soy sauce packets include Richard Branson, with Little Soya used on Virgin Airlines flights.
