LLAVES JML Gives Advice About Unsafe Door Lock That Is Causing Home Invasion in Westford, MA

To prevent future burglaries, the police advised residents to change all locks when moving into a new home, keeping the doors locked at all times with the use of safety locks for doors (Cerraduras De Seguridad Para Puertas) and by investing in a wide-angle door viewer installed in the entry door.

 

Sevilla, Spain -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/20/2014 -- Police Authorities in Lowell, Westford Massachusetts have been in search for the suspect of a home invasion which happened on October 21st at around 10:35PM. In 2012, only 310 crimes have been reported in Lowell which is about the average rate yearly, it has been very hard for the victims to imagine that they will be robbed inside the confines of their homes even with doors locked.

The invasion happened at a residence on Pleasant St. Lowell, Westford where a man broke into a residence taking away jewellery and other valuable items while the residents are at home. Westford Police Department confirmed that the invasion occurred at around 10:35PM and resulted in no injuries. According to the victim, Wendy Gloyd, the suspect grabbed jewellery out of their bedroom and left a crowbar on their backyard. Gloyd claims the family normally locks the doors every night before going to sleep.

Unsafe lock doors have been cause of common house burglary and theft in the US. The victims even recommended to make sure residents uses safety locks for doors (Cerraduras De Seguridad Para Puertas) to ensure safety and protection. Gloyd, claimed that after a few days of the home invasion, the suspect later returned the jewellery by leaving it outside their house trash bag several days after the burglary. Westford Police are now finding ways to catch the culprit and suggests to use safety locks for doors at homes and in offices to make sure other residents will not experience the same fate as the Gloyds. Westford police also encouraged residents to use property gate or fence with a code or a key to prevent property invasion.

The blinds and curtains must be closed after dark so as not to create attention for the expensive properties inside the house. They added that car garage windows should always be covered. It is also important to have good lighting inside and outside the house as it shoo away burglars.
