National Clinic Creates Patient Assistance Program on World AIDS Day

Defy Medical to offer medications and treatments to HIV patients seeking to improve quality of life

Tampa, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/10/2014 -- Defy Medical is offering a national patient assistance program to people with HIV who currently have limited access to medications meant to improve their quality of life. According to the Center for Disease control over 50% of people living with HIV in the United States will be over 50 years of age by the year 2015. This aging population that has been exposed to a deadly virus and toxic medications in the past has a lot more comorbidities than HIV-negative people of the same age.

Many people living with HIV are often limited in the types of treatments that are available to them due to ongoing cuts in funding in government sponsored clinics. Even some patients with insurance may have very restrictive coverage of medications that go beyond treating HIV. Such medications may include treatment for hormonal imbalances, involuntary weight loss, fatigue, sexual dysfunction, bone loss, and low mood.

"Our mission is to help people living with HIV who have limited resources lead a healthy life by providing treatment, assistance, and education about therapies only available currently for those with excellent health insurance and access", said Jasen Bruce, co-owner of Defy medical and long-term health counselor of people living with HIV.

"During years of lecturing around the United States, I witnessed a lot of frustration from patients about their lack of access to quality of life medications and to progressive physicians who are up to speed on on how to increase resilience while aging with a chronic illness, " said Nelson Vergel, founder of Program for Wellness Restoration, a nonprofit educational and grassroots organization. "I'm glad to see my good friend Jasen Bruce start his own clinic to help people with limited access to medications that can dramatically improve their quality and quantity of life," added Vergel.

Defy Medical's HIV patient assistance program gives patients the ability to conveniently speak with a doctor in the privacy of their own home. Treatments are monitored by a qualified medical team and phone service is available for non-emergency medical needs.

Defy Medical's patient assistance program also provides low cost access to compounded medications by partnering with compounding pharmacies that specialize in medications including nandrolone, HCG, Tri-Mix, and other medications no longer available on federal drug assistance and private insurance formularies.
