New Novel Probes Illegal Stem Cell Research

Minneapolis, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/19/2014 -- Auchans House, a new Minnesota publisher, proudly announces the publication of Stem of Evil: The Bogotá Experiments by Jac Cochran.

Cochran weaves a narrative with credible characters, a plot with twists, turns, and surprises--packed with action. Mix all this with Cochran's fascinating primers on medical advances, technological wizardry and Asian martial arts—readers will be both educated and entertained. There are deeper social issues such as stem cell research ethics and unbridled corporate greed that the book forces the reader to confront. The antagonists are not fully evil, nor do the good guys always get it right. Out of its pages arise situations that reinforce the global Big Brother spying that Snowden only recently uncovered. Stem of Evil: The Bogotá Experiments leaps from the pages of our contemporary existence.

About Jac Cochran
Jac Cochran is an unlikely author. In 2005, after open heart surgery Jac suffered multiple strokes that left him totally paralyzed, cognitively impaired and unable to speak; he was not expected to live. Complications took Jac to five different hospitals. He had extensive physical therapy and occupational therapy for several months. Jac had what his doctors call a nearly miraculous recovery.

Fast forward to today. As therapy, Jac began a martial arts program; he now has eight first place karate tournament trophies. He also began writing as therapy, and was unsure of the quality of his writing. He needn’t have been: Stem of Evil: The Bogotá Experiments has been getting five star reviews on Amazon.com. One reviewer on Goodreads.com wrote:

Stem of Evil: The Bogota Experiments is reminiscent of Michael Crichton's books: they both educate and entertain the reader. Jac Cochran will educate you about stem cell research, martial arts, and esoteric weaponry. He will entertain you with action, adventure, intrigue and a bit of romance.”

The son of school teachers, Jac grew up in the Red River Valley in western Minnesota. He is a student and practitioner of the martial art Soo Bahk Do, which plays a major role in the theme of the story. Jac is a former Fortune 100 executive with an academic background in science and engineering. He and his family reside in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.
