San Diego, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/03/2014 -- The economies of scale for mass production are well understood as it brings many products to its users. However, there is a long tail of desired products that are not mass produced. They are either custom-built or don't get built at all. Therefore, there is a large demand for products that go unfilled either because the current custom-product is too expensive or no one is making the product at all.
Obrary develops manufacturing techniques that can fill the need of the long tail cost effectively. They are committed to fostering open design and creating beautiful, high quality and durable products that people want but aren't readily available today. They see a world filled with free and openly available designs for products that are created by the community to fill their particular needs.
Soto fills a very specific need that many people have, a place to put all of their boards. One can also put the rack as high as they want on the wall and free up valuable floor space. Soto is made from high quality hardwoods which are a sustainable resource. It is beautiful to see and touch. It will easily hold many types of boards, from a standard skateboard to a large mountain board and everything in between. It is cut on a computer controlled router which provides precision and quality.
Obrary has started a Kickstarter project to get enough orders at one time so that they can do a batch run of the Soto racks. Doing a batch run will improve our efficiency in a number of areas including:
- Cost savings from volume discounts for larger orders of supplies
- The amount of pieces that they can get from each board of wood that they cut, so they'll use the materials more efficiently
- Doing a batch run will help to be more efficient with time.
This project will only be funded if at least $1,000 is pledged by Fri, Aug 1 2014 11:00 AM +05:30.
