Photographer and Graphic Artist Robert Decker Launches the National Park Poster Project

The National Park Poster Project will present an exclusive graphic art collection of the National Parks in America.

Boulder, CO -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/04/2014 -- The National Park Poster Project is an initiative from photographer and graphic artist Robert Decker to showcase all 59 national parks in the United States by creating iconic posters for all of them. One of the primary objectives of the project is to highlight the amazing landscapes, vibrant cultures, and rich history associated with all American national parks.

The National Park Poster Project draws inspiration from posters created by artists during the Works Progress Administration era in the 1930s and 40s. The WPA poster project was meant to stimulate people’s interest in education, theater, health, safety and travel. Now, 90 years down the line, Robert Decker is looking to complete the unfinished work of the original WPA poster project, in hopes of encouraging others to visit and support our national parks.

For almost five decades, Robert has explored and taken thousands of photographs of the national parks throughout the country. His plan for the National Park Poster Project is to complement the WPA with his exclusive collection of graphic art posters. When completed, Robert’s collection will comprise all 59 national parks. He has already completed six posters, and six more will be released during the Kickstarter campaign, which runs now through November 23rd. All of the posters will be printed and shipped out in December.

Proceeds from the Kickstarter campaign will be used to complete the first batch of 12 posters – including the Colorado Collection and the Rocky Mountain Collection – and print a sufficiently large quantity to make them cost efficient. Robert’s ultimate goal, however, is to complete the entire series of all 59 national park posters before the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service on August 25th, 2016.
